Meet Phillip Matthews: Automotive Fanatic
I’m Phil Matthews, a self-confessed automotive fanatic. My life revolves around motors. Whether I’m in my garage fiddling around with a new bike that I’ve picked up on eBay or attending a race day with hundreds of other motor fans, it’s rare that my day doesn’t feature a motor of some sort.
Although I’ve been tinkering with motors for most of my life, I’d say that I’m a long way from being an expert. My professional background is in heating and plumbing, I run a small business in Mid-Wales with a couple of lads working for me. I’ve spent the last 30 years fitting radiators and sorting out boilers, but I’ve now reached the point where I’m ready to spend more time on my real passion in life: cars and bikes!
Now that I’m stepping away from the ‘nuts and bolts’ of my heating business, I can spend more time doing what I love: prospecting classic cars and bikes, then bringing them back to their former glory. There’s a certain kind of satisfaction that I get from discovering a rusted heap and giving it a new lease of life. All the vehicles that I restore are found, new owners who will hopefully grow to love them as if they were brand new.
This blog is a place for me to report all my recent findings, progress on any current projects and also discuss any changes in the automotive industry that might be of interest. Don’t be surprised to see news here about racing, the WRC rally and even a bit of speedway!
